01 - In a small saucepan, place cinnamon sticks, cloves, cardamom pods, peppercorns, star anise, and sliced ginger with 2 cups of water.
02 - Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes to infuse the spices.
03 - Add the tea bags to the simmering mixture and steep for 2 to 3 minutes until strongly brewed.
04 - Remove from heat, discard the tea bags, and strain out the spices.
05 - In a separate pan, warm the milk until steaming without boiling; froth if desired.
06 - Stir honey or maple syrup and vanilla extract into the hot tea infusion.
07 - Divide the tea evenly into two mugs, top with steamed milk, and stir gently.
08 - Optionally, garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon or ground nutmeg.
